Set up your Moonflower or Sunflower
Some assembly required. Tools NOT included.
1. Access the Botanist
Scan the QR code on your device to access the online Botanist tool, which will guide you through the setup process and allow you to claim your NFT.
Note: If the QR code does not scan to the Botanist, please submit a ticket to support.pollenmobile.io and include your device Serial Number in order to receive your Botanist URL.
2. Location
Pick an optimal location for your BLiNQ product.
The Moonflower is a BLiNQ FW-300i radio and the Sunflower is a BLiNQ X-300i radio. Both of these Flowers are powerful outdoor cells, and require installation in elevated locations with clear lines of site to both the sky (for GPS synchronization) and the intended area of coverage for optimum functionality.
Please note that your BLiNQ Moonflower and/or Sunflower will need to be mounted at an ideal location using the included mounting hardware.
For more in-depth instructions, please see the included mounting instructions in you BLiNQ radio hardware, or visit BLiNQ's support portal.
3. Setup your Moonflower and/or Sunflower
A. Connect your Flower to Internet via Ethernet
Please note: Pollen will provide you with one 50-ft ethernet cable to help install your Flower.
Connect one end of your ethernet cable to your Flower, and connect the other end of your ethernet cable to your router or network switch.
For both Flowers, you'll need to locate the ethernet port at the bottom of the radio and unscrew the black cable gland cap. You'll then need to disassemble the cable gland and cut the inner grey rubber tubing to properly slide the ethernet cable through and connect your ethernet cable to your radio's port. For more detailed instructions and reference images, please see the included Quick Installation Guide included in your Flower's packaging.
B. Connect Flower to a Powerbox
Your Moonflower and/or Sunflower will need to be connected to the included Power Box to receive power.
For detailed instructions on how to mount a Pollen Power Box, please see steps 16 and 17 of Pollen's Buttercup Installation Guide.
Once the Power Box is properly mounted, you'll need to loosen the four screws holding the lid on the Power Box in each of the four corners. Once the internal components of the box are exposed, locate the circular cable clamp at the bottom of the box and the white power cable.
Feed the power cable through the cable opening, and connect the other end to the DC connector on your Flower (Note: you'll need to remove the black rubber power cap to expose the DC connector).
You'll also need to feed a female power adapter from the outside of the box through the cable clamp and connect this to the male power adapter inside the power box. Lastly, you'll need to fit the included black cable spacer into the cable clamp (see step 22 of the Buttercup Installation Guide), then screw the cable clamp tight.
Lastly, connect the female power adapter that was fed into the Power Box to AC power.
C. Wait for Provisioning
Please allow your newly setup Moonflower and/or Sunflower 2-5 minutes to come fully online and connect to the internet. If your Flower has been setup properly, you should see the LED indicator at the bottom of the Flower...
- Red -- in the boot up process
- Blinking orange -- unit is attempting to acquire GPS sync or connect to Pollen's cloud core
- Green -- unit is functioning as expected
Note: if you see a solid Orange light, your Flower may have failed a critical setup process. Please review this setup guide, or file a ticket at support.pollenmobile.io.
3.5 Check in with Botanist
The Botanist is designed to give you visibility into what the Pollen Mobile system sees for your Flower's setup. Learn more about Botanist here.
Botanist will check for the following:
- GPS Live
Your Flower's location has been found. If your GPS has not been found, please move your Flower to a different location with a clear line of sight to the sky, unobstructed by foliage, buildings, etc. - IEPS Online
Your network is secure. Internet Egress Privacy Service (IEPS) is a Pollen service that encrypts communications and moves the Internet Egress Point from your ISP, preventing any actor from intercepting data or running network data analyses. If IEPS is not online, please submit a support ticket to support.pollenmobile.io. - Connected to Pollen
Your Flower is connected to the Pollen Mobile network. If not, please submit a support ticket to support.pollenmobile.io. - Broadcasting
Your Flower is broadcasting the Pollen Mobile network. If not broadcasting, please check your internet backhaul, check the health of your ethernet cables, or power cycle your device. - SAS Status
In order for your Flower to broadcast, it will need a grant from the SAS (Spectrum Access System). SAS Status refers to the status of your antennas' grant with the SAS. There are several statuses that your grant can have, from Pending to Authorized. Go to"How do I register my Flower with the SAS?" for more information on completing this critical step. Failure to register with the SAS will result in your Flower being taken offline.
